President's message
Dear colleagues,
Any change is hard, but not impossible, when we feel it is necessary.
I have been with ACROM and the councilors in Romania since the beginning. I learned myself, step by step, what counseling means, and especially what a counselor means.
I identified with this occupation, going through many others: expert in book writing, in event organization, in marketing and advertising, trainer and trainer, project manager. Each experience allowed me to realize that being an advisor at one of the largest universities in Romania is a great responsibility. Over time, we found that there are many of us, those who care about the same things. Who care about students. Who care about their quality of life and the quality of our services.
I wanted to run for the position of president of ACROM because I believe that this association can still do a lot for the counselor profession. I want the informal relationships built between the counselors in the university counseling centers to find their formal expression in ACROM. I wish that each of the friends I’ve had by my side until now support ACROM projects with the same ardor. I want us to build together a community that is open, but above all useful, to all specialists.
I believe in collaboration, I believe in building a project that will transform the occupation of counselor into a profession. The steps we need to take are many. But my belief is that together with the team we have at the moment, we can put in the true light everything that is behind this simple word: advisor.
If we stand strong for our views, if we create and maintain the connection between all the practitioners of this field, which is still in its infancy and in search of a national identity, we will find that things can become simpler and easier for all.
Such an approach, however, cannot be supported by one man alone. Not even a handful of people.
To be successful, we must be many. Join the team.
ACROM President
